We will begin administering flu vaccines for the 2013-2014 Influenza season the week of August 19, 2013.
The CDC recommends that all individuals 6 months and older receive a yearly Influenza vaccine to protect them for the Influenza virus.
The flu vaccine is available in two forms: a live nasal mist or an inactivated vaccine shot. The nasal mist is available to healthy individuals older than 2 years of age. The vaccine shot is available to all individuals older than 6 months of age, including those individuals with a chronic illness.
Flu vaccines are available in our office to patients who have had a well child exam within the last year. The vaccine may be given in conjunction with an office visit or may be scheduled as a separate appointment.
Appointments for flu vaccines may be made on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons from 3-4 pm, Wednesday mornings between 8:30 and 10 am, and Friday afternoons from 2-4pm.
Children must be free of fever at least 24 hours prior to vaccination and must not be actively wheezing at the time of vaccination in order to receive the vaccine.
